Song Challenge Particulars

  • The entry fee per song is $20.
  • The quality of performance and production will not be considered. You do not need a professional recording.
  • Songs will be judged on originality, melody, composition, and lyrics.
  • Winners will be identified by a panel of  judges consisting of songwriters, producers, song pluggers, publishers and other music industry professionals who teach, perform, volunteer & help out with fest activities.
  • Winning entries, if present at the festival, will be scheduled to perform their song Friday or Saturday night at the main stage. (You do not have to attend the festival to enter a song or songs in the "Song Challenge.)
  • Each entry will receive a song critique.
  • Your songs may be entered in any of the following categories:

1. Pop  2. Country  3. Contemporary Christian/Gospel  4. Americana/Folk 5. Rock 6. Other

2010 Rules & Regs

  • Entrants do not have to attend the Festival to enter.
  • Each song submitted must be entrants original work. Songs may not exceed five (5) minutes in length. Songs may have multiple co-writers, but please designate one name only on the application.
  • Contestant may submit as many songs as they prefer.
  • Contest is open to amateur and professional songwriters. Employees of SongWritersFestival.com, their families, subsidiaries, and affiliates are not eligible.
  • Entrance fee is non-refundable. SongWritersFestival.com is not responsible for late, lost, damaged, misdirected, stolen, or misappropriated entries. The festival is not responsible for faulty file uploads accompanying online entries.
  • All entries must be completed and delivered to the Festival by Midnight, May 7th, 2010. Winning entries will be announced May 15th.

Awards

1st Place: Winning songs will be scheduled to be played at the festival June 4th, 5th or 6th.  $250 Cash, 3 Day/2 Night accommodations for one near Nashville's Music Row. 2 day Working tour of Nashville Music Row.

2nd Place: Winning songs will be scheduled to be played at the festival June 4th, 5th or 6th. $150 Cash 2 Day/1 Night accommodations for one near Nashville's Music Row. 1 Day Working tour of Nashville Music Row.

3rd Place:   $100 Cash. Co write with hit songwriter, Assorted Gift Bag from sponsors

Honorable mentions: Assorted Gift Bags from sponsors.

  • Those winning entries whom wish to perform their song or their designated representative will be scheduled to play, Friday, June 4th and/or Saturday, June 5th at 9PM at the Nashville SongWriters Festival on Music Row if they are in attendance.

  • Prizes will be awarded jointly to all authors of any song; Split of prizes is responsibility of winners. Void where prohibited. All federal, state, and local laws and regulations apply.

  • Winning entries will be press released world wide, posted on the web site and printed and distributed in

Strum Magazine & the Nashville Music Guide ,

Award Notifications

  • Winners will be identified by a panel of judges consisting of songwriters, producers, and music industry professionals whom teach, perform, volunteer or help with fest activities.

  • Winners will be notified by telephone and be sent by postal mail an affidavit of eligibility/recording rights/publicity release and must sign and return  within 10 days of notification date.

  • The affidavit will state that winner’s song is original work and he/she holds all rights to song. Failure to sign and return such affidavit within 10 days or provision of false/inaccurate information therein will result in immediate disqualification and an alternate winner will be selected.

  • Affidavits for winners under 18 years of age at time of award must be countersigned by parent or legal guardian. Affidavits subject to verification by SongWritersFestival.com and its agents.
  • Entry constitutes permission to use winner’s names, likenesses, and voices for future advertising and publicity purposes without additional compensation.
